How to Carry a Pitcher
Materials: A Pitcher of Water (¾ full)
Purposes:

Coordination of Movement
Preliminary Exercise
Age: 2 ½ and up
Preparation: None
Presentation:
Invite a small group to the lesson.
“Today I am going to show you how to carry a pitcher.”
Stand in front of the table with the pitcher.
Grasp the handle with one hand and support the belly of the pitcher with the other.
Lift the pitcher.
Lift pitcher to waist level and carry to a table.
Lower the pitcher.
Return to the presentation area.
“Please move the pitcher back to the table, Sally.”
Continue for the rest of the children in the group.
Once the Pitcher is back at the table, “Now you know how to carry a pitcher. This pitcher will be on the special interest table for the next few days if you would like to practice carrying it.”
Dismiss to work.
