About Rising Tide
Rising Tide Montessori is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located on the New Jersey shore with a mission to expand and increase the impact of Montessori education.
The Backstory
The idea for Rising Tide Montessori sprang into being in early 2019, when Jamie Rue and Sep Kamvar met for the first time and discovered their mutual interest in making Montessori more accessible.
In an ongoing brainstorming session that began with a conversation in an empty hotel lobby at the end of a Montessori conference and stretched over the course of 2019, Jamie (an AMI elementary trainer) and Sep (founder of Wildflower schools) developed a vision for a high-quality, self-paced, online Montessori professional development project based on a library of free video resources.
Through the rest of 2019, Jamie worked with Meg Trezise, AMI primary trainer, to begin writing and revising scripts. They produced demos and screen tests and refined the approach, taking the vision through multiple iterations. The videos started going live in Fall 2020.
How does this work?
Whether you are a parent or caregiver trying to help your children at home, a Montessori guide teaching children remotely, a trainer conducting a virtual course, or just interested in learning about Montessori, our videos are free for anyone to use. New videos will be posted regularly, as we strive to build a large resource center. However, making these videos available is just the first step for Rising Tide Montessori. Coaching and consulting also continue to be a service offered to schools, families, and other facilities by our professionals. Stay tuned as we continue to pursue our vision of providing accessible high-quality Montessori resources.
How can I use Rising Tide?
If you are a parent, you can use these videos as a way to learn about Montessori parenting.
If you are a teacher, you can use these videos as a virtual refresher.
If you are a homeschooler, you can use these videos as part of your homeschooling journey.
If you are a training center, you can use these videos as part of your training, so that you can spend live instructor time on dialogue rather than lecture.
If you are a school, you can use these videos as part of a parent education series, and as part of staff professional development.
Special Thanks
The following schools have helped us further our mission to make Montessori more accessible to all by lending their time, space, and materials. We would like to share our gratitude for all of their support!
