Picking Up a Fallen Object

Preparation: None
Presentation:
Invite a small group and one child expert, bring chairs, and sit.
The child expert sits at a table.
Explain that you will show them what to do if they see that someone has dropped something.
The student at the table pushes a pencil off the table.
Walk by, pick up the pen and place it on the table, “Excuse me (child name), you dropped this.”
Child expert responds with, “Thanks”.
Respond with “You’re welcome” and walk away.
Return and switch with the child expert.
Repeat the presentation.
Invite each of the other children to play the role of the one who drops and the one who picks up.
Summarize the lesson and dismiss the children to work.
